"Depends on what you want. I had the V100S for 12,700 miles and this is NOT a Guzzi character engine. Not at all.
It is a light flywheel rev happy aggressive feel that is far and away not like a relaxed torque filled V85TT. Not at all. I disagree with the reviewer on that. It is tuned for REVS. Drove me nuts with it's go, go, go feel. It wants to be PUSHED and pushed HARD to get that angry 1969 GTO sound reved out. And yes, it does that splendidly.
I traded BACK to the 2025 V85TT TRAVEL and am far happier with the 850 cc engines character. If FAST is V100 series is what you want, this is go to, yes. If true Guzzi character and feel is what you want the V100 series is not.
The engine/transmission/clutch (spongy multi-plate) are not nearly as smooth as the V85TT or V7's (I own the V7 too).
The riding position on the V100S is TIGHTER and more sport than TOUR. I can ride the V7 far, far longer and not be bunched up. The V85TT is even better. That kind of explains the entire V100 line, far more SPORT than TOUR in the engine and chassis.
Tight corners at low revs on thr V100 engine demand an RPM over 3,200 RPM or you'll spark knock and rattle the valves with a good twist on the go handle. Doesn't happen on the 850 cc engine as it has so much more grunt at low revs. Again, this V100 engine is SPORT and demands good revs where it excels. The 850 cc engine 1,2 or 3rd and any amount of go just grunts you out of the corner, no rattling valves or complaints. Much easier to chug around town.

Also, HEAT management is not so great with the V100 radiator.
This is a HOT bike in the summer. The V85 TT also has the big catalytic under the engine but has far less heat. The radiator is gone, so that seems to be the culprit that rats out the heat management and puts it in the dog house on 80 F and up days.
This is not a good in-town commuter bike if heat bothers you, and it is PAINFULLY hot on your legs. I only used the V7 on warm days. The V85 TT is fine.
My ownership suggest you decide what character you want. Skip the Guzzi stuff and consider it a twin and just judge it for what it is and not the "Guzzi" thing. This is NOT at all like a classic Guzzi engine or chassis. So skip all that hype and you'll understand the bike much better. I never gelled with the
aggressive nature of the engine and chassis, so I went to the 2025 V85TT TRAVEL. No, this bike isn't "fast" but 80 HP has plenty of trouble boiled in, still. The CHARACTER of the 850cc engine is far, far more relaxed and SMOOTH. The
V85TT engine, suspension and transmission/clutch are more refined in plushness and tighter drive-line lash. The V100 engine needs some tweaks on smoothness, especially the low-end GRUNT on the tune for my use and expectation. A Guzzi is all about GRUNT and smoothness. This bike (V100S Mandello) is not there yet. It certainly can be, though. Guzzi chose a SPORT leaning (too much for me) character. Too many bikes are already doing that. The V85TT remains in a proper notch Guzzi needs to manage itself in. Tune the V100 engine more for TOUR and the chassis for smoothness (V100S is harder ride even set soft). My V100S went too far in the brat bike speed tune to be enjoyable long term. 12,700 miles and I had my fill. Just be sure you want that "feel". Forget about "Guzzi", just judge the bike for what it is and take the name tags OFF in your head. Thinking MotoGuzzi will confuse you on the V100 bikes."
